FAQs

Do I need a referral from a physician?

In most cases, yes. A referral or prescription from your physician is required so we can fabricate a medically necessary orthotic or prosthetic device. If you’re unsure, we’ll check your insurance requirements and help guide you.

What should I bring to my first appointment?

Please bring your insurance card, ID, physician referral, and any relevant medical documentation (imaging reports, therapy notes, etc.). Comfortable clothing is also recommended.

How long does an appointment usually take?

Evaluation appointments typically last 45 minutes to 1 hour. Fittings and follow-up sessions may vary based on the device.

How long does it take to receive my device?

Custom devices usually take 1–3 weeks depending on complexity, insurance processing, and fabrication time. We’ll provide an estimated timeline at your evaluation.

How often will I need follow-ups?

Follow-ups are usually scheduled 1–2 weeks after delivery, then as needed. We encourage you to schedule an appointment anytime you feel discomfort or notice changes.

What conditions do orthotics help treat?

Orthotics can help with foot and ankle pain, flat feet, plantar fasciitis, diabetic foot protection, knee instability, back pain, and many other biomechanical issues.

Will orthotics hurt when I first start wearing them?

Some mild soreness is normal during the first few days. Your body is adjusting to new alignment. If pain lasts longer than a week, contact us for adjustments.

How long will my orthotics last?

Most custom orthotics last 1–3 years, depending on usage, weight, foot structure changes, and activity level.

Can I use orthotics in multiple pairs of shoes?

Yes, but we recommend shoes with similar structure to ensure proper support. Some devices may require dedicated footwear.

Does my insurance cover orthotics or prosthetics?

Coverage varies by plan, but most insurance policies include some level of coverage. We verify your benefits, explain your responsibilities, and help handle authorizations.

What out-of-pocket costs should I expect?

Your exact cost depends on your deductible, co-insurance, and device classification. Our billing team will provide a detailed breakdown before fabrication begins.

Will Medicare cover my device?

In most cases, yes, if medical necessity is met. We’ll review requirements and guide you through each step.

How do I care for my orthotic or prosthetic device?

We provide a full care sheet at delivery, but in general:

  • Clean regularly

  • Keep away from extreme heat

  • Inspect for wear

  • Contact us immediately if something feels off

When should I replace or repair my device?

If you notice cracks, rubbing, loose parts, or changes in comfort, schedule an appointment. Early repairs prevent bigger issues.

Do you offer pediatric services?

Yes, we evaluate and treat children needing orthotics or prosthetics for developmental, neurological, or injury-related conditions.
